Installing a new bathroom takes a lot of time, effort and money, so you don’t want to be repeating the process frequently.
In this case, if you are planning on getting your cloakroom, family bathroom, or en suite renovated any time soon, it might be worth considering gas underfloor heating while you are already replacing the floor, shower, bath, tiles and vanity unit.
To help you decide whether to opt for underfloor heating, read our list of advantages.
Energy-efficient
Most people aren’t aware that having underfloor heating is more energy-efficient than using traditional radiators.
This is because the latter need to be heated to between 65 and 75 C to warm a room up sufficiently; however, you only need the flooring to be 29 C in order to feel the heat.
What’s more, underfloor heating retains its heat longer than radiators, keeping the bathroom warmer for longer.
No cold spots
Radiators heat up the air closest to them first, which means areas further away from the appliance are prone to cold spots.
However, this does not happen with underfloor heating, as the entire room is heated to the same degree. This means wherever you get changed, you will not feel the chill.
Little maintenance
One of the big advantages of underfloor heating is there is little to no maintenance required.
They typically come with a warranty, so you don’t have to worry about it suddenly stopping working. This is unlike radiators, which might need bleeding, flushing out, or replacing every so often.
Fewer dust mites
Something not many homeowners know is that having underfloor heating can reduce the amount of dust mites you have in the washroom.
This is because the moisture level of the room is kept lower than if you have radiators. Consequently, there will be fewer dust mites in the room, and thanks to there being less air movement, not as much dust travels around.
Therefore, if you have allergy sufferers or people with asthma living in the house, this could persuade you to opt for underfloor heating.
As well as fewer dust mites, the number of other insects will drop, which is ideal if you’re not a big fan of creepy crawlies.
Great in small spaces
Big bathrooms are hard to come by these days, so if you want to maximise the amount of space in your washroom, it could be wise to install underfloor heating.
This is particularly relevant to households renovating or building an en suite, as they might want to save wall space where a radiator would have otherwise gone. Instead, they can use this to have a towel ladder or a vanity unit.
Equally, if you are updating your cloakroom, you can save valuable space by removing the radiator, so it does not feel as cramped for guests when they use it.
